$2.6 million in water quality improvement grants available
The DEQ is seeking grant applications for water quality projects that restore and protect Michigan’s wetlands, lakes and streams. About $2.6 million from state and federal funding is available, and units of government, nonprofit organizations and universities are eligible to apply.
Proposals for either project must include a minimum 25 percent local match.
Notices of Intent are due Aug. 20, and full applications from invited entities are due Oct. 17. The full text of the Request for Proposals including eligibility criteria, priorities, and the required forms and instructions can be found at www.michigan.gov/nps
Grant awards are contingent upon the sale of Clean Michigan Initiative general obligation bonds to support these projects and the appropriation of funding by the U.S. Congress and Michigan Legislature.
